NetVitals measures browser-visible internet performance without installing an app. The full diagnostic samples endpoint response times, estimates jitter and request loss, tests download and upload throughput, and combines those signals into a practical quality score.

About latency: this is browser HTTP round-trip time to NetVitals’ hosting path. It can differ substantially from ICMP ping, a nearby game server, an Ookla server, or your ISP gateway because each uses a different route and measurement method.

Important: request loss is an application-layer approximation, not an ICMP packet-loss test. Browser security signals also cannot inspect Wi-Fi encryption, your router, open ports, DNS integrity, LAN devices, or malware.
